VIC: $3 million for man who got friends to check ticket

MELBOURNE, Dec 14 AAP - A farm worker who got friends to check his Tattersalls Powerball
ticket on Friday night found out he had won the $3 million prize.

The single man, in his 30s, from Ballarat, west of Melbourne, said he knew nothing about
his win until he went out for drinks with friends on Friday night.

"Everyone was talking about the $3 million win, so for a joke I pulled out my ticket and
threw it on the table for someone else to check," he said.

"You cannot imagine the shock I got when a girl sitting near me checked it and said that I
had the five numbers plus the Powerball - I am still not over it," he said.

"It is such a big shock that I havent been able to work out what to do with the money or
even if I should go back to work."

The man, a regular Tattslotto and Powerball player, said that later this week, once he had
told all his family, he would have a big celebration.
