FED: Democrats want more than higher compensation for GST
The Australian Democrats say they'll continue to oppose the GST if the federal government
does not exempt food.
Democrats tax spokesman ANDREW MURRAY has told the Ten Network's Meet the Press program
that his party is wary of government assurances about compensation after broken commitments to
the party and Independent Senator BRIAN HARRADINE.
He says they're supported by the public and most particularly, the churches and charities.
