TAS: Restraining order granted against anti-discrimination head

A Tasmanian public servant has been granted an interim restraining order against stateAnti-Discrimination Commissioner JOCELYNNE SCUTT.

The application was sought by MARK BASTICK, of Hobart, who formerly worked with DrSCUTT as a conciliation and investigation officer, but has since moved to another officewithin the same building.

Mr BASTICK today told the Hobart Magistrates Court he's concerned about an altercationoccurring with the commissioner.

He's also expressed concerns about work he has performed for the commission being interferedwith.

In granting the order, Magistrate IAN MATTERSON said Tasmania's meant to be calledparadise -- but it seems to have more restraining orders in place than anywhere else inthe civilised world.

The interim order will run until the completion of proceedings on the matter, witha hearing date set for May 12.
