United Medical Centers Leverages Sage Intergy Meaningful Use Edition.

Sage Healthcare Division, a unit of Sage North America and a provider of electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software and services, announced that United Medical Centers, an eight-practice community health center in Eagle Pass, Texas, will implement the Sage Intergy Meaningful Use Edition to meet the practice's financial and clinical needs.

According to company officials, United Medical Centers provides primary healthcare services to insured and uninsured patients, in a bilingual, bi-cultural community, encompassing Maverick, Val Verde and Kinney counties located in southwest Texas on the U.S. border. United Medical Centers offers pediatric, OB/GYN, family medicine and internal medicine, among other specialties, in addition to operating an in-house laboratory and pharmacy and providing radiology services.

"After considering 18 EHR systems and listening to sales presentations from 11 vendors, UMC's team of medical providers and IT leadership staff felt that the Sage was the best fit for our center," said Georgia Kypuros, CEO of United Medical Centers.

United Medical Centers is moving from the Sage Medical Manager practice management system to Sage's EHR solution.

Kypuros said the Sage Intergy Meaningful Use Edition will provide greater patient safety, quality patient care and chart documentation, aid in coding, reduce patient wait times and create more efficient compliance with and reporting of outcome indicators for federal, state and regulatory agencies.

"At UMC, we believe that access to healthcare is a right, not a privilege," Kypuros said. "Therefore, we strive to ensure that our doors are open to all individuals in our communities, that we provide the absolute best in care and are able to create more efficiencies while meeting our business needs. We believe Sage helps us meet these goals."

Sage Intergy Meaningful Use Edition provides an integrated clinical, financial and administrative solution with consolidated reporting and efficient system maintenance. Patient data can be shared or isolated across practices and locations, allowing secure access from anywhere to providers and staff. Patients have access to their clinical record and a range of web-based services from the Sage Intergy Practice Portal from anywhere there is an Internet connection. The solution also features a full complement of integrated clinical and financial services including claims, remittance, eligibility verification, e-prescriptions and lab results.

"Sage Healthcare Division maintains its commitment to supporting our clients, and dedicating ourselves to a physician-focused, patient-centric approach," said Betty Otter-Nickerson, president of Sage Healthcare Division. "We are dedicated to providing solutions for CHCs and their patients and helping all CHCs meet their healthcare and business needs."

M2 PRESSWIRE-March 16, 2011-: Creation of New Malware Increases by 26 Percent to Reach More than 73,000 Samples Every Day, PandaLabs reports; 73,000 new samples have been created daily to date in 2011, 10,000more thantheaverage for all of 2010(C)1994-2011 M2 COMMUNICATIONS

RDATE:16032011

Bracknell -- In its Q1 malware report, PandaLabs, Panda Securitys anti-malware laboratory, has found the number of threats in circulation has risen in comparison to last year. In the first three months of 2011, PandaLabs identified an average of 73,000 new malware strains, most of which were Trojans. Moreover, there was a 26 percent increase of new threats compared to the same period last year.

While PandaLabs observed a quarter-over-quarter increase of new malware in 2010, the rise was not nearly as notable as the one experienced over the last several quarters. A graph showing the rise in new malware from Q1 2010 through Q1 2011 is available at: http://press.pandasecurity.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Graph1.jpg

Trojans remain the most popular type of threat to computer systems, and now account for 70 percent of all new malware. This is unsurprising considering it can be incredibly lucrative for cybercriminals to commit fraud or steal money from Internet users through the online banking channel. A graph showing the popularity of different types of malware is available at: http://press.pandasecurity.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/GRAPH2EN.jpg

The proliferation of online tools that enable non-technical people to create Trojans in minutes and quickly set up illegal business especially when it can provide access to banking details - is responsible for Trojans impressive growth, said Luis Corrons, technical director of PandaLabs. Not all kind of Trojans grow at the same pace. Taking a look further at the subtypes of malware, PandaLabs found that Banker Trojans have decreased, bots have remained steady, and fake anti-virus or rogueware has descreased in popularity. However, the number of downloaders has increased significantly.

Downloaders are a subtype of Trojan that, once it has infected a user's computer, connect through the Internet to download additional malware. Hackers often use this method because the downloader is lightweight only containing a few lines of code - and can go completely unnoticed unlike other Trojans. A graph showing the rise in downloaders, along with Banker Trojans, bots and rogueware, in 2011 is available at: http://www.pandalabs.com/

PandaLabs strongly recommends users keep their computers protected. To avoid Internet threats, individuals can download FREE Panda tools such as Panda Cloud Antivirus or use Panda ActiveScan.

AboutPandaLabs

Since 1990, PandaLabs, Panda Securitys malware research laboratory, has been working to detect and classify malware in order to protect consumers and companies against new Internet threats. To do so, PandaLabs uses Collective Intelligence, a cloud-based proprietary system that leverages the knowledge gathered from Pandas user community to automatically detect, analyze and classify the more than 73,000 new malware strains that appear every day. This automated malware classification is complemented through the work of an international team with researchers specialized each in a specific type of malware (viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware and other attacks) to provide global coverage.
